Hardy, Ed. “How To Choose the Best Tablet Screen Size.” TabletPCReview.com. N.p., 7 Sept. 2015. Web. 30 Apr. 2016.

The author, Ed Hardy, is a site editor for TabletPCReview.com. Hardy has worked on many different topics about electronics and especially tablets on this site. The authors thesis is basic in the way that he states the decision is solely based on what the consumer prefers based on budget, where it will be used and what they want the tablet for. The intended audience is simply a person who is interested in a tablet but doesn’t know what screen size to get or use. So most likely a student in high school, college or above.

In the article, the author does a great job explaining each good thing and bad thing for the different sizes. There is little to no bias shown because he doesn’t say that one is definitely better than the other or that one is the worst. The strengths in this article are definitely the information and depth that the author goes in for each size and gives examples of devices that utilize it the best. A weakness would be the date that this article was made because there have been improvements since last year. This article is relevant to the FloatNote because as the designer, the decision to make different sizes for the device was hard. The question I had was if one size sold more than the other, should there only be one size for the FloatNote or two sizes.

Frangipane, Justice. “How Drawing Feels on the Surface Pro 4.” Creative Bloq. Microsoft, 15 Oct. 2015. Web. 29 Apr. 2016.

In the article, “How Drawing Feels on the Surface Pro 4” The author addresses that he is not a journalist but how he is a software developer for Pc and their tablet’s mouse. Judging by the fact that he works for a company on designing mouse’s for tablets, he is certainly credible for this article. His main arguments or thesis is going to be how does it actually feel to draw on the surface pro 4. The intended audience for this article would have to be students or business adults who want to work from a tablet instead of notebook or a laptop.

The author states all the positives for the design of the surface pro, the design of the pen, and how it feels. I would say that the only bias present is the author seems to be a huge supporter from what he says in the article. The strengths in this article are that the author does a great job of analyzing the product from the thickness of the pen to the pressure sensitivity and even the screen size and keyboard. There are a small number of problems that the author discusses in that case that would be a weakness. For the design aspect of our float note and since the float note is similar to the surface pro 4, the content is relevant for the stylus and the fact that writing on a screen is going to be the future.

Wilson, Tom. “’Holographic’ computer is part of Microsoft’s Windows 10 plan.” Electronicsweekly.com. Electronicsweekly.com Issue 2618, p5-5. 3/4p. Febuary 25, 2015. Web. April 14, 2016.

“’Holographic’ computer is part of Microsoft’s Windows 10 plan.” Is a product review article written by Electronicsweekly.com, a consumer and business source for information on technology and electronics. Wilson wrote in the article about the new products Microsoft plans to offer such as “Hololens” and “SurfaceHub”. According to Alex Kippman (project Hololens Chief Inventor) they will be coming to the market “within the windows 10 timespan”. The intended audience is primarily investors, seeing as this information was presented by Microsoft at a business conference.

The article is not opinionated in any way and contains only facts and quotes from Microsoft. The article has many strengths about information in the up and coming new technology being released by Microsoft. A flaw that the article has is that the information is purely speculation without anything concrete. However, that could be due to what information Microsoft was willing to leak. My personal views align with the article because I do believe that holographic technology is very useful and is a foreseeable future. This article is extremely relevant to the FloatNote because it shows that a major corporation like Microsoft is experimenting with it.

Chandler, Michael A., and Hayley Tsukayama. “Tablets on the Rise in Nation’s Schools.” Washington Post. The Washington Post, 17 May 2014. Web. 25 Apr. 2016. <https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/tablets-proliferate-in-nations-classrooms-and-take-a-swipe-at-the-status-quo/2014/05/17/faa27ba4-dbbd-11e3-8009-71de85b9c527_story.html>.

The two reporter’s names who contributed to this article are Michael Alison Chandler and Hayley Tsukayama. They are both reporters for Washington D.C. and their main purpose for writing this article was to express how effective tablets can be in an educational academic setting. In the opening of the article they give many real life examples that show a tablets effectiveness in the classroom. These examples consist of social studies students swiping down a touch screen to read the articles of the constitution, a fifth grade teacher electronically sending homework assignments so she has more time to help students during class, a second grade teacher sending assignments electronically during snow days so the class doesn’t fall behind, and many more.

When technology was first brought into the classroom over a decade ago, it consisted of every student having access to a computer. As technology advanced and tablets were released to the public, schools figured they would save money for with lower cost tablet computers. Over the past year (2013 based on the date the article was published) school spending on tablets has increased 60 percent). These tablets may soon be used for online standardized tests and quizzes with the new advancements of this technology. Computers allow students to learn at their own pace, because instead of learning based whatever class they are in they’re learning based on what they know. Although there are many concerns for giving students easy access to the worldwide web, schools are able to block certain websites when using the schools wifi, thus eliminating distractions.

This article is a interesting read about a fuel-cell maker that found a technology harnessing enough power of hydrogen to allow mobile phones to be charged once a week. This article is written by Jessica Shankleman. Shankleman wrote this article about a British Fuel-Cell developer that is working to provide, 5.25 pounds, which is 7.6 million dollars. Although the developers name is not mentioned, Shanklman goes on to say that this technology goes on to convert hydrogen into electricity leaving only water vapor as a byproduct. The acting managing director for the Intelligent Energy Consumer Electronics Division stated that, “Embedding fuel-cell technology into portable devices provides a solution to the current dilemma of short battery life.” The current target audience should be anyone that owns a cellphone or a laptop of any kind. There aren’t any bias opinions other than the fact that Shankleman truly believes that this new technology works. This is a very strong and intriguing article this helps us a lot for our product that we are trying to produce. This is strongly supporting for our invention and extremely relevant as well. Considering all of the strong information fuel-cell batteries have, this can make our product a strong one.

Battery University. Fuel Cell Technology Information, How Does the Fuel Cell Work, 2012. Web. 19 April, 2016.

“A fuel cell is an electrochemical device that combines hydrogen fuel with oxygen to produce electricity, heat and water.” Fuel cell batteries use the anode, which is a negative electrode that receives hydrogen and the cathode, which is a positive electrode. This collects oxygen in order for the battery to be of use. The overall affect of fuel cell batteries are much more effective for long term use and are much longer lasting along with being safer. According to Battery University technologies the batteries in which we use today are far more dangerous. Batteries we use today are toxic if damaged and use inappropriately. Fuel cell technology can become the future of batteries if used properly and if they can be condensed into small forms, these batteries can run our phones someday.

The author of this article is Isidor Buchmann. Bachmann grew up with little power throughout his house and needed the radio battery to conduct most of the power in there house. Buchmann later became interested in the way batteries worked and how they could be designed and crafted. He later published articles about his researches and later wrote a book. His book “Batteries in a Portable World — A Handbook on Rechargeable Batteries for Non-Engineers” made him a best-selling author. His thesis is that batteries can the contraction of batteries can change the way of peoples lives. The more enhanced batteries can be, the more affective ways in which people can use them. Say for example the difference between our batteries in our phones as opposed to our computers. The intended audience is anyone with an interest in technological advancement and anyone interested in how batteries work. Although I don’t feel that there is any bias opinions in this article, I feel the strength of his knowledge about batteries really provides and insight that he has about batteries and the advancement of them. This article is very helpful and lets us as a group better understand the use of fuel cell batteries and the pros that they come with. This information from this article is very useful and helps us grasp the way in which this battery works and helps our product.

Kurze, Martin. “Smart glasses linking real live and social network’s contacts by face recognition”. ACM Digital Library. Web 2011. Accessed 23 April 2016.

Martin Kurze is a writer for multiple websites and textbooks relating to technology. His articles are reliable resources to use. Kurze talks about the use and need for smart glasses. He starts by explaining how the smart glasses will help a person remember contacts and names threw its face/voice recognition. Kurze is directing his article to adults. Adults who need help with memorization. He is also speaking to people who are not educated about smart glasses. He explains the smart glasses from top to bottom.

Since the article is promoting the smart glasses there is little bias. Kurze is educated on the product and provides facts but also adds opinions. The strength of this article would be the rhetoric and good use of questions. Kurze persuades the reader with the questions stated in the text. The weakness would be the use of over compliments on the smart glasses. Kurze praises the smart glasses throughout the entire article. This article does support my paper because the product stated here is the smart glasses and my product is the focus glasses, they are closely related. After reading this article I can expand my thoughts on the purpose of my product.

Erica Robles-Anderson. Patrik Svensson.“ONE DAMN SLIDE AFTER ANOTHER”: POWERPOINT AT EVERY OCCASION FOR SPEECH. 15th January 2016. Web. 4 April. 2016.

In the article, “ One damn Slide after Another”: PowerPoint at every occasion for a speech, (Written by Erica Robles- Anderson, and Patrick Svensson) The past, current, and future of Power Point is discussed. Earning degrees from New York University, Steinhardt and HUMlab, and Umea University, they are certainly qualified to properly analyze the topic. Robles-Anderson, and Svensson begin the article with discussing the history and popular uses of Powerpoint, and later address how it has become outdated with the use of newer technologies. As far as the audience of this article goes, it concerns all people who are currently using Powerpoint as a primary way of delivering a presentation.

Although the authors begin the article with discussing the positive aspects of the program, Powerpoint, I believe that the author is bias toward the fact that Powerpoint is an out of date program that should be replaced on a global aspect. The strengths of the common uses of uses of Powerpoint, the history of the product, and also the popularity of the program. Some of the negatives would consist of it’s lack of satisfaction, outdated programing, and also the fact that there are newer programs that currently exist. The information in this article both agree, and counter the thesis of our research paper. It agrees with our thesis because it promotes the fact that there are newer technologies that exist that at the same time allow you to give an unforgettable presentation. It counters our thesis because it highlights that there are over 1 billion people worldwide that use Powerpoint. The material in this article is relevant to the material in our research paper. This is true because in the world that we live in, technology is changing every day. People always want the newest, most popular piece of technology. That is what Brain Connect is, the future of technology.
